About Robert Weiner

Robert L. Weiner Mr. Weiner has worked with clients independently and through Grenzebach Glier and Associates, KPMG’s Higher Education and Non-Profit Consulting practice, and Collegis. In addition, Mr. Weiner has directed administrative and academic computing for the University of Redlands and Menlo College, and managed Alumni and Development information systems for the University of California’s San Francisco and Santa Cruz campuses. His experience includes conducting needs assessments for a variety of software packages, managing database conversions, overseeing academic and administrative computer centers, developing strategic plans for technology, redesigning administrative operations, managing enterprise networking projects, selecting and implementing library and instructional technologies, and guiding World Wide Web projects.

Mr. Weiner is the host of TechSoup’s Technology for Fundraising online forum, and has presented workshops for organizations including the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP, formerly NSFRE), Academic Impressions, Grassroots Fundraising Journal, the Craigslist Foundation, Idealware, the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA), the California Advancement Researchers Association, the Foundation Center, CompassPoint Nonprofit Services, the University of San Francisco’s College of Professional Studies, the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership of Marin, and the Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network (NTEN). He served on the editorial board of E-Philanthropy Review, and has been published in AFP’s eWire, Idealware, the Nonprofit Quarterly, CASE Currents, the CASE Handbook of Institutional Advancement, TechSoup, NTEN Forecast, E-Philanthropy Review, and contributed to the newly published CASE book, Advancement Services, Behind the Advancement Scene. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for AFP’s Fundraising Effectiveness Project and is a member of NTEN’s Kitchen Cabinet, helped plan the 2005 Craigslist Foundation Nonprofit Boot Camp, served on the planning committees for AFP’s 2004 San Francisco Fundraising Day conference and AFP’s 2003 Pacific Symposium, was a faculty member for the CASE Annual Conference for Senior Advancement Services Professionals from 2003 through 2006, and co-chaired the Advancement Services track at the 1992 CASE District VII Conference. He is Past President of the Board of Directors of the Z Space Studio, a nonprofit theater incubator, served on the board of the Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, was president of the board of the UC Santa Cruz Alumni Association and a past board member for the Alumni Associations of the University of California, and served on the Technology Advisory Committee of the American Red Cross of the Bay Area.

Mr. Weiner holds a B.A. in Planning and Public Policy from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with Highest Honors. He is President of the board of directors for the Z Space Studio (a nonprofit theater incubator), a former member of the board of the Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Past President of the board of directors of the UC Santa Cruz Alumni Association, a past board member for the Alumni Associations of the University of California and the UC Santa Cruz Foundation, and served on the Technology Advisory Committee of the American Red Cross of the Bay Area.
