Here's the response from Tom Qin:

Dear Robert,

Many thanks for your confirmation, If you have no relationship with Spd Investment Corp, I represent our company to announce the following several points:
1. Our company is a registration organization in China. Because Spd Investment Corp had applied for following domain names throught our body, and following domain names are conflicting with the company name & domain names you are using, we decided to inform you.
2. The principle of domain names registration is always open, "who is first, who is the owner". As a domain name registrar, we have no right to dispute their application. As the company whose trademarks relate to the applied domains, and your company have already use the www.rlweiner.com you own the preferential rights to register them.
3. Your company must evaluate this matter very well, if these domain names being applied for by Spd Investment Corp will take some troubles and affect your future businesss in China, then we can apply for the prority of registration for your company.
4. If your company do need to register those Domains in China please contact us in time, then we'll inform you how to register. Above is our company's simple declaration. There is a time limit. Pls let us know your decision soon. Waiting for your reply.

Best Regards,

Tom Qin

It appears that the way to help them "handle this issue better" is for me to pay to license these domains. Sounds exactly like the original come-on from Internet Brand Justice & Safety Dept. Since it's been nearly 3 years since the original message said someone had applied to register my domains in Asia and they haven't been registered yet I'm not too worried. I might feel differently if I did business in Asia.

Dear Manager,

We received a formal application from a person who is called Brian Ball is applying to register "itimaging" as their domain names and Internet brand in Hong Kong and also in Asia on Nov 13, 2009. During our auditing procedure we find out that the alleged Brian Ball has no trade mark, brand nor patent even similar to that word. As authorized anti-cybersquatting organization we hereby suspect the alleged Brian Ball to be a domain or trademark grabber. Hence we need you confirmation for two things, First of all, whether this alleged Brian Ball is your business partner or distributor in Asia.
Secondly, whether you are interested in registering these domains and Internet brand instead of that alleged person.(The alleged Brian Ball will be entitled to obtain a domain not needed by original trademark owner.)
If you are not in charge of this please forward this email to appropriate dept.
This is a letter for confirmation. If the mentioned third party is your business partner or distributor in Asia and you are not interested in register these domains and Internet brand please DO NOT reply. We will automatically confirm application from your business partner after this audit procedure.

Best Regards,

Eddy

My favorite response in this thread was from Carolyn when she wrote the following concerning her response FROM them and then translating it from Google. I killed myself laughing!

"I speak of your uncle, you are a chop suey, OK? Hell you are a slut, Death, dogs on the East and West, inserted inside the root of your nose red onion want the elephant ah? You are a silly B OK?"

I have to admit, I enjoyed reading these posts concerning the scam. Hopefully, no one fell for it!

Our scam letter was like most others and included this:
1. Is this" PLDYInternational, Inc " your Asian agent or branch here?
Waiting for your reply ASAP.
Best Regards,
